understande Locks

hi,

i am new db2 admin our database face lock problem many time i know locking is database function but because of that our application stop working so i have to force locks but what i don't understand is how to maintain lock rate and means how to handle lock rate plz give any good doc link on lock handling

Try to review the following parameters in db cfg.
1) MAXLOCKS
2)LOCKTIMEOUT
