Does create bufferpool on partition group reserve memory on all partitions in the group?

When you create a bufferpool in a partition group of physical partitions, does it create reserve memory on all the physical machines to create bufferpools of the exact same size on all physical partitions?

Also, how does database memory work in the database configuration for physical partitions. Would it reserve the same amount of memory on all partitions or is it a global maximum for the sum total of all memory used in the partitions?

Hello,

Yes, each partition the bufferpool is defined on will allocate the defined buffer pool size.

Database memory is also allocated individually on each partition. However, each partition may have it's own database configuration settings, defined buffer pools, etc, so it's possible for each partition to require a different amount of database memory.

Cheers,
Liam.
