DB2 INSTALL ERRORS

I INSTALLED DB2 ON my comp fine 3 weeks ago. a week ago I uninstalled it. over the past few days I tried a few times to reinstall it and keep getting the same errors.

WARNING
There has been an error changing the Net Question directory path given to a proper short path.

WARNING
Error during installation: C:\PROGRA~1\SQLLIB\bin\iwh2regi.exe 10 DWCTRLDB DWCTRLDB NULL 1252 EN:-1039.

WARNING
Error during installation: C:\PROGRA~1\SQLLIB\BIN\IWH2REGI.EXE 12 DWCTRLDB IWH db2admin ****** C:\PROGRA~1\SQLLIB\LOGGING C:\PROGRA~1\SQLLIB:2009.


I am installing on WINXP it is DB2 version 7.1
CAN ANYONE HELP - HOW DO I FIX THIS?

Before attempting to reinstall, remove the contents (and all
subdirectories) of C:\PROGRAM FILES\SQLLIB
and remove all DB2 entries in the registry.

We have a technote on a manual uninstall of DB2 on Windows for v8 (see
below) - most of those steps likely also apply for v7.

I removed the SQLLIB directory and the IBM\SQL... Directory

I did not find any of the keys in the Registry

I also read that web page link you provided : The uninstall problems that the page talks about did not apply - DB2 did uninstall - I was not given the option to 'repare' an existing installation. It also did not show under add/remove programs - however the SQLLIB directory and IBM directory was still present under PROGRAM FILES.
it beeps once after uninstalling from add/remove programs and beeps five times after installation if that helps.

any help please!

Hi, Karcheee:

The manual uninstall of DB2 is different from DB2 v8 and v7, because Windows
Installer is employed in DB2 v8, but not in v7.
Thus, it is much easier to uninstall DB2 manually, if the normal uninstall
(via Add/Remove Programs) does not remove DB2 v7 completely from the system.

As Blair said in his note, you can remove the DB2 files from the location
where it was installed (~\SQLLIB), and remove all DB2 entries in the
registry tree. You can search them under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER. You need to clean the DB2 windows services and
environment variables, not only the registry keys under ~\software\IBM\DB2\

As you said in your recent mail: "however the SQLLIB directory and IBM
directory was still present under PROGRAM FILES", this means the DB2 files
were not removed completely. You can manually delete those directory/files.
You might get some error msg claiming those files are still be used by DB2.
In that case, please reboot the machine and then try to remove those
directory/files again.
